19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
